“The weather outside is frightful but the fire is so delightful.” Not my words, of course, but the words of many different singers in the Wintery classic “Let it snow!”

Yes, it’s the first snowfall of the year and we’re all feeling the freeze. Despite warnings, the weather still seemed to catch lots of people out.

The local news crews are having a field day with sweeping shots of traffic-filled snowy motorways. They’re showing interviews with local residents, all of whom seem accepting but annoyed with the delays caused by the snow.

And talking of the cold weather, there’s snow way you should forget about your mortgage. If you’re coming to the end of your fixed rate you should consider whether or not to freeze your rate going forward. A decent rate could give you a warm, slush feeling inside, if you get my (snow)drift.

And once you’ve spoken to your mortgage broker and got a n-ice rate that you’re happy with, you’ll be chanting “Freezer jolly good fellow!”

You’ll be pleased to know that’s the end of the puns, but only because I couldn’t think of a way to squeeze in snowflakes, snowballs or sleet into the above!
